Mechotech engineers ashwagandha extraction plants using food-grade alcohol extraction followed by multi-stage purification to concentrate and standardize withanolide content. Manufacturing Process

Root Preparation

Dried ashwagandha roots are cleaned, size-reduced, and ground to 20-40 mesh powder. Moisture content is verified before extraction to ensure consistent yields.

Maceration & Extraction
Powdered root is macerated in food-grade ethanol-water mixture (70:30) in jacketed extraction vessels at controlled temperature. Multiple solvent washes maximize withanolide recovery.

Filtration
The extract is filtered through plate-and-frame and cartridge filters to remove all solid impurities, producing a clear, golden miscella.

Evaporation
The filtered miscella is concentrated in a falling-film evaporator under vacuum at below 60oC to preserve thermolabile withanolides while recovering 95%+ of solvent.

Spray Drying
The concentrated extract is spray-dried to a free-flowing powder with controlled moisture content (<5%). Excipients such as maltodextrin can be added for improved flowability.

Standardization & QC
